Schumacher Battery Extender - SEMA/AAPEX 2012
Schumacher Battery Extender
It should come as no surprise that along with every other technology in the world today, battery tech is changing as well. What does that mean to you and me? Simply put, we have to spend some money upgrading our set of tools designed to keep batteries charged and maintained. Go figure. Truth is, batteries are anything but inexpensive - especially those for ATVs, motorcycles, and other recreational-type vehicles. The latest tech inside these batteries allows them to last longer, provide more power and as an added bonus - be a little less caustic to the environment. The trade-off is that we have to treat them a little differently from a maintenance standpoint. That's where this new breed of Schumacher Battery Extenders come in. Another buzz word you'll hear thrown around a lot is "maintainer". I remember when we simply called them "trickle-chargers", but I digress. This new breed of battery extender, maintainer - or whatever you choose to call it - is smart...very smart. So smart in fact, that it can determine what type of battery you've connected it to, make the proper adjustments internally, and start giving the battery a charge. We stopped by the Schumacher booth at the 2012 SEMA/AAPEX show to get a first-hand look at their latest tools for keeping batteries in tip-top shape.
