HEAD Multi-Sport Gloves with SensaTEC Review
I am not a “cold weather” person. I would prefer that it stay above 80 degrees year round. But since winter is bound to come, and it’s inevitable that I’ll have to be out in the cold at some point, I do everything within my power to stay warm, especially my hands and feet.A couple of years ago, several of the bigger named glove manufacturers came out with gloves that had built-in pads, technology right on the fingertips that would allow them to work with smart phones. So the principal behind it was that the threads that made up the pads allowed you to use the touch screen to text, slide between screens, etc, without taking off your gloves. I bought some of the Isotoner Smart Touch gloves, and while I liked the gloves themselves, the forefinger of the glove was longer than my actual forefinger making them hard to use. I had to keep pulling the finger down to get the pad to work, and eventually, I would get frustrated and take one off.At the beginning of fall, I was in Coscto, and I saw these gloves by HEAD. On the packaging they are called Head Multi-Sport Gloves with SensaTEC. The look good and they seem to be designed well. For one thing, the stretchy fabric is great because the gloves… well they fit your hand like a glove! My fingers fit snugly into the fingers of the gloves, so the pads are in the perfect position for using my touch screen. The SensaTEC pads are located on the forefingers and the thumbs. The palms of the gloves are covered in a rubbery material which is great for holding things, like the flashlight I carry when I walk outside. One review I read said that she played tennis and the rubber grips made gripping the racquet much easier in colder weather. There is also have a clip that keeps the gloves together when they are not on your hands. This is handy for women like me that throw everything into the way-too-large purse. If they went in separately they might not every come out together again.I read a few reviews that said these gloves weren’t very warm, and that is true if you are sitting at a football game where you aren’t moving very much. They certainly aren’t warm for anything snow related. But for driving, walking, running, etc. I find that once I’ve gotten my body moving my hands warm up, as long as I can keep the wind off of them. These gloves are perfect for those types of situations. They are also great for the workshop or job site. In the Tool Skool workshop, Brad likes to keep the doors open. He can’t stand to be hot. But then my hands start to freeze and I can’t get anything done. These gloves are warm but lightweight and so you can move your hands easily without feeling too bulky. As I said before, I found my gloves at Costco for around $10. They came in black and dark gray in sizes XS, Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large. They are also available on Amazon.com, but the prices seem to vary quite a bit.Overall, I give these gloves a thumbs up! I wish I’d bought a couple of extra pairs when I had the chance.
