New I-Semble Brackets Make DIY Shelf Construction Easy
Rockler Woodworking and Hardware has added three new items to its line of I-Semble® custom furniture components – Slip-On 1x4 Bookcase Brackets, Slip- On Ladder Bookcase Brackets, and the Cross Strap Shelf Stabilizer Kit. The Slip-On 1x4 Bookcase Brackets slide over 3/4" stock and function as sturdy cross braces between the shelves and the carcass, and the Slip-On Ladder Bookcase Brackets do the same for a ladder-style shelving system. With the I-Semble Brackets in place and shelves cut to size, assembly of the shelving unit can be completed in minutes, requiring only a drill to drive the included screws into place.

I-Semble takes the frustration out of joinery and bracing."The Slip-On 1x4 Brackets slip over vertical 1x4 nominal lumber and feature support tabs for the horizontal shelves, while the Ladder Bookcase Brackets slide over vertical 1x6 nominal lumber.
Both styles of brackets are simply installed with included wood screws. The Cross Strap Stabilizer Kit is recommended for shelving units with a flat back rising four or more shelves high. Using an "X" of tension wires, it adds stability to the shelving unit to prevent racking from side to side. The kit includes two 72" stabilizer wires and all necessary hardware to install and tighten the wires.
