Craftsman NEXTEC QuickBoost Charger - Tool Review
We first saw this charger a while back at one of the trade shows, but I just recently put it to the test to see if it does what it says. And, I’m happy to report that it does exactly what it says.
So what’s so special about the Craftsman NEXTEC QuickBoost Charger. Well, let me give you the skinny. You’re at the end of a project with any Craftsman NEXTEC tool that uses the 12V battery. Your battery dies. Here’s where this charger shines. Put the battery on the charger, push the big green button in the middle to activate the “QuickBoost” mode, and then go take a potty break or grab a cup of coffee or, in my case a diet Coke, and in 3 minutes (and yes, I did actually time it), the QuickBoost button will stop flashing, turn solid green, and it’s just charged your battery to 25%.
That’s enough of a charge to drive 70 more screws according to Craftsman. I drove 40+ on the charge, and it still was going strong, so I decided that was close enough for my testing purposes.
So what happens, if you get a phone call, or you just forget that you’ve pushed the “Quickboost” button and you don’t come back to remove the battery from the charger in 3 minutes? After 3 minutes the charger will just switch back to regular charging mode, which keeps it from damaging the battery. Pretty cool, huh?
The Craftsman QuickBoost Charger comes with a lot of the 12V NEXTEC Tools, or you can buy it individually if you already have tools in the line. It’s compatible with any of the 12V NEXTEC batteries. I love it when a product works like it’s supposed to! And hopefully, soon we'll get to review the 20V Max QuickBoost system! Keep your eyes open for that review.
