Spend a day without either and you know the meaning of naked and lost, it seems. The iLuv Modena Galaxy S4 Case combines both into one unit, and does it pretty well for under $40 (online)

The first thing I check for whenever looking at a new case is how it feels in my hand. Let's face it, if we all had an endless supply of funds, we wouldn't use a case because the phone itself feels good to hold, right? That's why engineers spend so much time on phone body design - it's a brain pleasure center thing, I guess. Unfortunately, money doesn't grow on trees, so we protect our expensive phones with cases that often create a bulky, uncomfortable chunk of plastic in our hands. On the upside, at least the phone won't get scratched in those plastic cages.

iLuv's Modena Case doesn't seem to add a lot of bulk to the phone itself. Once you put credit cards, business cards, and some cash inside, it can beef up somewhat, but it's still much thinner than a wallet and phone stacked atop one another.

The case's leather is soft and comfortable, and will likely get scuffed on a jobsite if you leave it on the table saw. However, if your days are spent giving estimates or making inspections, then it'll probably fit nicely into your routine.

The Modena Galaxy S4 case leaves the screen almost totally accessible, so it's easy to make phone calls without unsnapping or folding a flap over. I've seen a couple of complaints that users weren't able to use the screen's swipe gesture because of the case protruding onto the glass, but those seem random. No problems here.

The ID window is easily accessed for those times when you have to remove it for the nice officer, as well.

All of the external controls, as well as the camera, are easily reached through the case cutouts. You can even snap a quick picture without opening any flaps.

In all, this is a nice convenient tool if you want to present a business-like appearance to clients at meetings or elsewhere. Would I trust it in a sandstorm to keep the phone pristine? Absolutely not, so if you're looking for bullet-proof tank performance, keep looking. The Modena Galaxy S4 Case provides convenience, good looks, and functionality for about the same price I paid for an iPhone Otterbox. It does its job well and with style.
