First Impressions

This is not going to be the lengthiest review that you’ve ever read, because there’s really nothing negative to say about this little flashlight.  It’s a compact flashlight (about 4 ½”) but it packs a powerful punch.  It’s pretty simplistic in design… just an off –on switch.It runs on the Tek4 4-volt Lithium-Ion battery, so if you already have this battery and some of these tools, then this is a must-have for the collection.

The rp4400 feels very sturdy in your hands, and the clip makes it perfect to put onto your belt or even clip it onto the strap of a bag or purse to take with you wherever you go.  Ryobi claims to have a 6-hour run life.  I charged the battery fully, put it into the flashlight (it only goes one way and it fits securely just like the other Tek4 tools), screwed the cap on and turned it on, set it on the counter and let it run.  It ran for well over 6 hours.  So as far as I’m concerned, the claims are true.

Features: Water, dust, and shockproof

The packaging claims it’s water, dust and shockproof… I have dropped it and it kept on working, I’ve had it outside on a hike, and stuck down into a cave to take pictures for a location scout, and no problems there.  I also ran the flashlight under water for a couple of minutes, and no worries there either, so I feel confident it could take some rain, a sweaty, pocket, or being dropped in a puddle.  Seems to me like they’ve actually made the rp4400 a solid product.

Brightness

The last claim is that it’s 65 lumens… I have no idea how to measure lumens in my shop, so I’ll take their word for it.  However, I have tested it to see if it shines the 100 or more feet they claim, and it does.  No worries there.  Overall, I really like the flashlight.  It feels really sturdy and the size makes it perfect to throw in my bag or in the car.
