Paslode IM250A Review

Paslode is the pioneer in the cordless nailer genre. They had the market locked early on and inspired a slew of imitators - although none has ever really been able to surpass (much less match) their internal-combustion engine technology. Now, to stay ahead of the game, they've re-designed their venerable 16 gauge cordless finish nailer and added some really nice features.

IM250A Features

To begin, this new tool is lighter (by 5%, but still lighter). To me, it seems to be a more balanced tool now. They've shifted things around on the grip so that your hand falls into a different position than on the old tool - this is most likely part of the reason it seems to be less "front-heavy".

An improved access hatch on the front to clear jammed nails is also a nice improvement over the old. There just never seemed to be enough room to clear those nasty jams on the previous model.

I tested this new nailer on a staircase I'm building. It performed flawlessly in every aspect, driving everything from 1.5" to 2.5" nails into some really dense 50-year-old pine - not an easy task to say the least, especially without a compressor!

It was nice to be able to simply tack pieces in place before I committed with glue and screws.

When I was working from a ladder, installing faux-crown, it was such a blessing to a) not have a hose to get tangled in, and b) have a nailer that didn't misfire once! Holding anything over your head while on a ladder demands more focus than I possess for the most part - the last thing I needed was a misfiring nailer. The Paslode came through like a champ.

IM250A Opinion

I've been a Paslode fan for many years. I'm happy to see they've made some substantial, useful improvements to their already ground-breaking tool.
