Milwaukee M12 FUEL HackZall | Video Review
Milwaukee M12 FUEL SawZall 2520-20
As you'll see if you look at my Milwaukee M12 FUEL Hammerdrill/Driver review HERE, I've been a fan of this tool platform for some time. The combination of the FUEL brushless motors and Milwaukee's M12 Lithium-ion batteries is practically unbeatable. I've been using the M12 FUEL HackZall for several months now and it has impressed me on several levels, which I'll get to in this article.
I've been working as the Facilities Manager at 34-year-old Mercury Studios for the past year and a half, and this old building requires a lot of upkeep. Everything from a decades-old theater marquee to the dressing rooms and studios requires constant upkeep, so it's important that I have a stable full of dependable, powerful tools. There's nothing worse than not having the right tool for the job, especially when you're holding up production on some very expensive shoots.
Take a look at the video review below and get a real picture of the features and benefits this tool has to offer.

M12 HackZall Features
Size & Weight: For me, the M12 FUEL HackZall is the perfect form factor for getting into areas that most tools can't. It's well-balanced and not noticeably heavy, so you're not fighting the tool while trying to get the job done.
The design allows you to use 2 hands when needed for that little extra force that cuts through the tough stuff.
Battery Indicator: It's not the end of the world, but it sure is a pain in the butt when you start using a tool, only to find out it had about 30 seconds of charge left in it. The M12 FUEL HackZall has a very accurate set of indicator lights, letting you know whether you should take it up the ladder or switch out batteries first.
Overload Protection: Tools are getting very smart, aren't they? Several tool companies, Milwaukee included, have started using technology inside the tools that keep you from destroying them. Put too much strain on the motor or battery, and the unit shuts itself down. In the long run, it saves you time and money, especially if you have a crew that might be a little hard on expensive tools.
LED Light: Speaking of lights, there's another bright LED on the front of the tool, which actually works! You'll be surprised at how well it illuminates whatever you're working on.
M12 Convenience: If you're a fan of the M12 line, you'll appreciate the fact that the batteries, whether the 2.0 Ah, or the 4.0 Ah, can be used in this and any other of the 60+ tools now available.
M12 FUEL HackZall Bottom Line
I really don't think you'll be disappointed with this tool. Milwaukee Tool is fortunate to have a group of people working there who genuinely care about what they do and how they can improve the line-up of products they make. In other words, they're not just a sausage factory, as some brands have devolved into. Milwaukee puts their money into R&D and takes the time to visit jobsites and talk with people like you and me to get honest feedback.
Are Milwaukee tools inexpensive? No, but good tools aren't. The M12 FUEL HackZall is an investment worth making, IMHO. Let me know what you think in the comment section below.
