Beth's Father's Day Gift Guide

Tool Skool's Guide to the REALLY COOL gifts for Dad!

Father's Day is June 16th, 2013

I'm a procrastinator, especially when it comes to buying gifts for my Dad.  When I was little, I gave my Dad anything that had to do with tennis, and one year I gave him a little statue for his desk with a little girl holding her arms open that said "I love you this much!"  But now, it's time to pay Dad back for being the spectacular Dad he was and give him what he really wants which, of course, is the same thing you want:  fabulous tools and awesome gadgets!   Here are a few for you to consider, and hey, if you know you're in store for the tie, we say pick yourself up a few of these too!  We think you deserve it.

For Dads who want Pro Tools:

Bosch PB120 Jobsite Radio

We gave one of these away for our May Newsletter Subscriber of the Month Prize.  If you missed out, it might just be time for you to head to the store and pick one up.  The Bosch PB120 Compact Jobsite Radio is a gift any dad would be crazy not to want.  To read the Tool Skool review on the Bosch PB120 Jobsite Radio: CLICK HERE.

Milwaukee 12V FUEL Impact Driver or Drill /Driver

Milwaukee's 12V line has all kinds of great tools in it, but this year, Milwaukee has launched their M12 FUEL Line of tools with brushless motors.  Brushless is all the rage right now.  At Tool Skool, we have a feeling that the 12V platform is where the brushless technology is really going to shine.  Most contractors are used to getting 18V power, but now they can get that power and longer runtime in a 12V tool.  You can't go wrong with any of the tools from the M12 FUEL lineup, but if Dad doesn't have an impact driver, that may be the perfect gift!  Read More about the M12 FUEL Impact Driver, and the M12 FUEL Drill / Driver.Milwaukee M12 Fuel Impact DriverMilwaukee M12 FUEL Drill

DEWALT 18v / 20V Max Multi-Port Cordless Vac (Model DCV580)

This was one of the big hits at this year's DEWALT Media Event.  This cordless vac runs off of either the 18V stem pack or the 20V Max slide pack batteries making all DEWALT loyalists happy.  It's a lightweight solution for the contractor that needs to clean up smaller jobs and who doesn't want to drag out a larger vacuum.  MSRP on this vac is $99, but at the time of this post, the only place I can find it available is at Sears for about $115.

RIDGID Fuego 12-Amp 6-1/2 in. Framing Circular Saw

This circular saw is an oldie, but a goody!  Meaning it's been around for a few years, but it's certainly tried and true on the jobsite.  When this saw was first released it was quite a bit smaller than it's competitors, but it has proven it's smaller size and lighter weight still get the job done without the extra fatigue.   And for around $99 the price point can't be beat.

For Dads who are DIYers:

Craftsman Chrome and Vinyl Hydraulic Shop Stool

I just recently purchased and put together a couple of shop stools I bought at Sears.  I'd been keeping an eye out for a sale, and they have one going on for Father's Day.  They normally are around $80 each, but for a limited time they are on sale for $50 each.  So I bought two of them, and I already am convinced they were the perfect choice for my shop.  I love that they have a back that can be adjusted.  The foot rest is comfortable and they move up and down easily.

Stanley Tripod Flashlight (Model 95-112B)

Everyone can use a good flashlight and this tripod flashlight from Stanley comes in handy for all kinds of tasks around the house.  The tripod legs pop out and the head tilts so Dad can keep his hands free.  Or it folds up to use as a standard flashlight.  For under $20, you can't go wrong with this gift.

For Dad's who like gadgets:

Screwpop Keyring Screwdriver:

Lightweight and compact, this keyring screwdriver has a magnetic Phillips/Flathead bit.  And there's a bottle opener on it as well.  And one great thing about this neat little gadget... it'll pass TSA restrictions, so Dad can carry it anywhere.  Works best with a carabiner clip so it can be easily removed.  For less than $10, it's a great gadget to give Dad.Screwpop Screwdriver
