At the recent DeWalt Media Event in Towson, we were treated to a number of the latest innovations from Big Yellow. One of my favorites was the revamped line-up of portable wet/dry vacuums with the multi-port system. It allows you to use either their stem pack or slide pack batteries, a feature that a lot of us have been waiting for.The two newest models are the DCV580 and the DCV581H, both sharing multiple features, while the latter can be powered by either battery or an electrical outlet.

DeWalt Portable Vac Uses
The DeWalt team did extensive user surveys to determine what features end-users needed most. They concluded that the 2 gallon capacity was optimal for small clean-up on jobs in offices, clients' homes, etc. The vacs will easily evacuate water from a toilet bowl for neater, cleaner removal. And because many of us already owned the stem-pack batteries (in addition to the newer slide style) the multi-port option made sense to optimize existing battery use and minimize end-user frustration. I think we're all glad they made that decision.During our visit to the DeWalt training facility, we saw the vacuums in action and they really do live up to the DeWalt brand. They can't quite suck the proverbial golf ball through a garden hose, but they're close!Take a look at our video preview below to check out the features of both the DCV580 and the soon to be released DCV581H.
