BOSCH 3-1/4" Planer PL1632 | WOC Preview
BOSCH Planer - A Better Mousetrap?
I like Jim Stevens. He's a nice guy and genuinely loves what he does for a living. As a designer of fine woodworking tools for Bosch, he puts his heart and soul into everything he creates or helps create. He understands the tools and he understands how they're going to be used in the field. That's most certainly the case with the new Bosch PL1632 Wood Planer. It has some thoughtful new features that will improve the way you and I use the tool in the real world.
The other thing I really like about Jim is the fact that he can explain the tool in a way that you not only understand, but appreciate. Take a look and listen to our conversation with him at this year's World of Concrete, as Jim explains the features and benefits of the PL1632.

The Plane(r) Facts
Two different models are available. Both are 6.5 amp tools that run at 16,500 rpm. Think of the PL1632 as the base model sports car, with the ability to upgrade the blade. The PL2632 meanwhile, comes with all the bells and whistles they could install. Both have a 3-1/4" capacity.
I like the addition of the plastic overshoe on the fence. Much like the overshoes on their jig saws, this should keep you from scratching up already-finished surfaces on doors and the like.
But Bosch didn't stop there. As Jim puts it, there are some other "minor" improvements over previous models - lagniappe, as they say.
The PL2632 will give you all that a little sumpin-sumpin extra...
Our bottom line - I can't wait to get one and put it to work, right next to my favorite jig saw!
