What do you listen to on the jobsite?

Being in the construction business, I listen to music almost every day on the jobsite.  So, when I received the iLuv Aud 5 high-fidelity speaker and lightning dock for iPhone 5, I was excited to have a new toy to try out.  Prior to this, about 4 years ago, I saw an ad on TV for a SoundDock that was portable and compatible for my iPhone3G. I had stumbled on Pandora and liked it because I didn’t have to listen to all of those commercials on the job or on the drive home. The SoundDock looked as though it would eliminate them as well.  No commercials, my favorite music....I had to have it, I bit the bullet and shelled out $400.00 for the Bose SoundDock. I can honestly say it changed how I listen to music forever!

Features of the iLuv Aud 5

Jump forward to present time.  The iLuv Aud 5, upon removal from the box, has a sleek look with all the controls located on top of the unit. Immediately (without reading the instructions, and what guy wants to do that) I knew how to connect my iPhone 5 on the platform in the front. The unit works with iTunes on your phone flawlessly. One of the nicest features about this little boombox is the app you can download from the iTunes app store. The iLuv app is loaded with features, hundreds of internet radio stations, 3 clocks for time around the world, weather, and a link to the iLuv store for more iLuv features.

But how does it sound?

The sound that this little beast creates is clear all the way to the max setting for the volume, well capable of filling the room or rooms you’re in with a rich well-balanced sound. With the ability to listen to your music from your iPhone5 or hundreds of internet radio stations with a bare minimum of interruptions, your day can be filled with a variety of selections that will please anybody's tastes.  The app is free, with the option to upgrade for a minimal onetime fee.  Now I carry the iLuv5 to the jobsite, and I’m set for the day.

Pros:

• Online I found several sites with the iLuv Aud 5 available for under $150.00 with the best price being $129.99 from Amazon (at the time of post).
• Rich full sound available from the lowest to the highest setting.
• All the controls are located on top of the unit
• Pandora or any other sound app works on the iLuv Aud 5
• Packed full of features
• Auxiliary port located where you connect the power cord for other devices
• When your phone is docked, you can charge your phone and play music simultaneously

Cons:

• There is not a handle on the unit, making transport a 2-hand process
• Not a portable device, you need a power source.

Final Thoughts:

Since I'm a remodeler, the iLuv Aud 5 is perfect for me.  I can bring it with me to the jobsite, listen to my music and keep my phone charged.  Or it's great to have in the shop while I'm prepping for the job.  Final thoughts:  If you don't have to have a battery powered device, this is a great speaker and dock for the price.
